golubtsy

I'm feeling adventurous these days.

This recipe is found on Smitten Kitchen. (one of my favourite food blogs!)

Golubtsy is a Russian main dish. It's basically stuffed cabbage. Here I made a filling with beef, rice shaped pasta (because we thought that was risotto, but you can also use rice), a carrot and two celery stalks.

When i was wrapping the cabbage around the filling. I thought..oh god some of these leaves are so small, for sure the fillings are going to fall out, but they didn't! Not a single piece. I think it's because the rice and beef bound together really well. As long as you make sure that you've covered up all the fillings, you should be good.

Once these little guys are cooked in the tomato sauce, they're truly a pocket of wonderfulness.

Gabe, you'll like this one.
