so last week i went to Roy Thompson Hall to hear Jamie Oliver speak
He was in town to promote his new book "Food Revolution" and you receive a copy with the purchase of a ticket. (i had front row seats to the side for $65, which is not bad at all). What an awesome venue! I haven't been to Roy Thompson Hall in forever, and the fact that 2000 Torontonian's came to here him talk about food is pretty awesome. Of course, as expected a lot of the crowd was there for celebrity factor, but there was a decent amount of food culture talk.
He talked about his food programs in British Schools as well as the "Pass It On" movement he's created. The idea is that he teaches people simple meals, and they intern promise to teach 2 others, and then they each will teach 2 others and continue passing the knowledge. Its a great idea, but only works because of his celebrity factor. anyways, it was a great talk and i'm glad i went for both personal interest and thesis work.
pass it on!
oh and related, the only iphone app i've paid for is the Jamie Oliver 20 minute meals app.. and its awesome! its a must have for anyone who cooks! so everyone!
