Lola's Commissionary

Before the Holiday Season ended, we all decided to reward ourselves with a feast of brunch so we will have a good start to the new year.

Lola's Commissary has been on our minds for awhile, since it's rated one of the best new brunch places in 2009 by Blog TO. How did we like it? You ask. We loved it. With the variety of their elaborate menu and the homey atmosphere, the experience made us very happy brunch-ers

Cheese Cake Stuffed French Toast

I ordered the Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast. I only took a glance at the menu, and knew that's what I wanted. Cheesecake+French Toast, how could it get better than that? It came topped with berry compote. Not heavy at all, but a little too much berry to me, still, very delicious, I would say.

Gabe ordered the Eggs Lola. It's essentially poached eggs, ancho chicken on tortillas. Nice balance of the different textures. You don't get poached eggs on tortillas all the time.

Mike got the Egg White Frittata, a very health option, and good for those vegetarians out there.
The frittata came topped with goat’s cheese, mushrooms, spinach and hemp pesto. It's worth mentioning that most of the savoury items come with a choice of frites, sexy potatoes, or salad. Both Gabe and Mike got the sexy potatoes, and it's something you would have to try when you're there. It's not just your average home fries, but a mix of sweet potatoes and Yukon potatoes roasted together with herbs and paprika. Now that is a new favourite side dish!
